Vegas 2 has that great character customization system, but by default you can only have one character per install. Sure, you can change the looks of your character completely without affecting your achievements, but you can’t have two separate people have their own achievements, ranks, ACES and all that on the same install of Windows. Well, actually you can. there are two ways to do it.
Vegas 2 stores all your character info in My Documents\My Games\Ubisoft\R6Vegas2 (that’s in XP – in Vista it is Documents\My Games\Ubisoft\R6Vegas2). That immediately opens up the first way of having multiple characters – because this data is stored in your Windows profile, each user who has their own Windows profile can have their own character.
If you don’t want to have separate profiles however, you can still easily have multiple characters, by using the second method. All you need to do is backup all the files in that folder (they store all the info about your character, as well as your graphics settings, etc). Then, before you start playing, copy your backed up files to the R6Vegas2 folder, and then after you are done playing and exited the game, back them up again. Other users of the game can do the same thing when they play. If you are clever about it, you can write yourself a little batch file that does the swapping for you.
Oh, by the way, if you want to create a ‘blank slate’ character for a new player, simply empty that R6Vegas2 folder, and the game creates a blank character automatically.
