The spoon in question is an Indy 4 promotion – when you press a little button on it, the actual spoon part lights up. I am too afraid to use it to eat the actual cereal, so now it sits in a corner of the kitchen, mocking me.
The trip over was fairly straight-forward; On the first hop to Amsterdam I slept through most of it, and the actual layover was fairly short (I did manage to write a little on the FSDSxTweak docs even). The second leg to Seattle was a pain. I think we flew too close to the North Pole and its magical Penguins, as time seemed to slow down to almost zero – although that may have also been the fact that I watched College Road Trip, a Disney movie with Martin Lawrence. Human language can barely describe how awful, cliched and predictable this abomination was. Perhaps it was not those frosty Northern Penguins who slowed time down – perhaps it was the ghost of Kubrick, which settled itself around my neck as if some horrible Colridgesque dead-wet-bird type thing. Fortunately, after a very, very long time, we descended among the cloudy Cascades, over Redmond, the Space Needle and Boeing field, and landed softly at SeaTac. The people at immigration and customs were pleasant as ever, and we even met a lady from Kimberly on the Shuttle on the way to Redmond.
Apart from that, Faybs set up a nice machine for me to use, so we thought we would play some Vegas 2 multiplayer. After quite a while of trying to install it (the DVD drive on my box was acting up), we discovered that my box does not do Shader Model 3.0, so the game wont run. Mmm – nice to have had that compatability tool run before the game was installed, Ubisoft! Our hunger for destroying tangos was so terrible, however, that we would not let ourselves be defeated by any Shader model, 3.0, 2.0 or even the lowly 1.1. So we went to Newegg, and presto there does exist an AGP card that does Shader Model 3, for a measly $60, so we ordered that – hopefully the world will be saved before this weekend (hold on there world!).
For dinner we had Pandas. Mmmm, tasty little almost-opposable thumbs they have…
The biggest pain so far has been jetlag – on the first day I was in bed by 8pm and then up at 6; Yesterday I managed to stay up till 9:15, and then I was up at 7:30 today. Hopefully that improves soon.
you really are the biggest NERD evah!! and for some people getting up at 7:30 in the morning is perfectly earthly thank-you very much!
