When you land in a new place, there are always surprises – some nice, some not so nice. One of the nice things about Seattle is the huge number of interesting fizzy drinks you get here.
In the photo are two of my favourites: Cricket Cola, which is green tea with an infusion of Kola nut. It tastes like a less sweet Coke, but has a definite green tea flavour on the finish. The other is Ramune (Japanese lemonage), which is very fruity and sweet (and it is packaged in an awesome Codd-neck bottle, which uses a glass marble held in place by the gas pressure instead of a metal bottle cap). Other favourites are the Melon and Cream Soda flavours by the Seattle based Jones Soda Company (like Chappies wrappers, each bottle has a different joke on the inside of the screw cap). Interestingly, Cream Soda flavoured drinks in the US are not green like they are at home, but rather orange or transparent. I guess it doesn’t really matter anyway, because it’s a totally artificial flavour anyway.
