Update: Jesse from Lukiegames read this post, and hearing about the damaged door sent me a $10 coupon! Now that is excellent service! Thanks good people at Lukiegames!
It seems that everyone who works at MS has an XBox. There is a sort of odd look when I tell them I don’t have one (it is a very similar look to the one I get when I tell them I don’t have cable TV). Because this is a deficiency which obviously needs to be rectified, a couple of other people have started hounding me about getting a console; and so the pitches begin – Xbox, PS3, etc (no-one so far has suggested the Wii…). So I finally decided to knuckle under and get one.
Yup, the 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System, greatest console of all time – there are around 1000 games available for it, and these days they go for around ten bucks each. I bought it from an eBay store called Lukie Games for $45, and came with a brand new cart plug. Unfortunately the cart door was cracked, but I easily found a replacement for a couple of bucks.
Then games – for starters I got some big names – Contra, Gradius, River City Ransom, and Metal Gear. And some not so well known ones : Rad Racer, Defender of the Crown, and Infiltrator (yes, a bias towards C64 classic ports). Some of the games were not working well at first, but after opening them up and cleaning the contacts, they work great.
