Boeing today rolled out the latest incarnation of the 747, the 747-8 Intercontinental (N6067E). It is intended to compete with the Airbus A380 – although oddly one of the launch customers is Lufthansa, which also operates the A380.
The design is based on the 1969 vintage 747-100, but will hardly be showing its 42 years after it’s fuselage stretch, new wings, new engines and new flight deck. My guess is that it is 60%-70% of a new aeroplane.
